In 1964, Nanjing Fiberglass Research and Design Institute ( hereinafter referred to as Nanjing Fiberglass Institute ) was established to support the national strategy of "two bombs and one satellite". It is located beside Yuhuatai Park and at the foot of Zhongshan Mountain. Having undergone innovations for half a century and wholehearted exploration by several generations of scientific and technical personnel as well as successive reforming and reorganization, Nanjing Fiberglass Institute, in the position of the sole national institute integrating research, design and production and possessing series of core technologies and a complete innovating system in China’s glass fiber industry, has been leading the technology development of glass fibers and fiber composites in China.

In recent years, based on the traditional glass fiber specialty and aiming at the strategic height of building a long-lasting foundation for future development, Nanjing Fiberglass Institute is committed to construct an entire industrial chain of high-performance fibers and products, and strives to build three platforms respectively for industrial development, innovation incubation and industry service, thus stepping into a new stage of high-speed development.

At present, Nanjing Fiberglass Institute has more than 520 professionals of various disciplines, among whom there are 1 academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, 1 National Outstanding Engineer, 10 experts with outstanding contributions at the national and provincial levels, 34 experts enjoying government subsidies and 59 professor-level senior engineers.
